How Long Does Artificial Grass Last in the BC Climate?
May 18, 2026 5 min read

One of the first questions we get is how long turf actually lasts. It's the right question, because turf is an investment and you want to know what you're getting. The honest answer: a long time, if it's quality turf on a proper base.
What determines lifespan
- Turf quality: better fibres and backing resist wear and UV fading
- The base: a solid, well-drained base keeps the surface stable for years
- Use: a quiet front yard lasts longer than a heavy dog run, naturally
- Install quality: tight seams and locked edges don't lift or separate
Our climate is actually kind to turf
Turf's biggest enemy elsewhere is relentless UV and extreme heat. The Fraser Valley is mild and cloudy a good chunk of the year, which is easy on the fibres. Our challenge is water, and that's solved at the base. So in places like Chilliwack and Abbotsford, well-installed turf tends to age gracefully.
We install residential artificial turf across Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley, including Chilliwack. Call us for a free quote.
How to get the most years out of it
Maintenance is light but not zero. Rinse it now and then, brush the high-traffic spots to keep the fibres standing, and clear leaves and debris before they break down on the surface. That's about it. Do that and the turf holds its colour and feel for the long haul.
The base is the real warranty
We say it a lot because it's true: the base is what makes turf last. Turf can be replaced down the road if you ever want to, but a properly built base keeps performing underneath. That's why we never cut corners on the part you can't see.
